When it comes to starting a business you may wonder what are the proper steps to take and in what order?

We wanted to make a quick video series that may help. This is the ninth in the series of 10.

Obtain Any Licenses & Permits!

Step 9 in forming a business properly is obtaining any licenses and permits you may need in your location for your particular type business.  Now this isn’t the same at all as getting a business entity such as an LLC.  Licenses and permits are different altogether. 

While we think you for sure need an entity and we recommend an LLC, you may or may not need any licenses and permits.  This varies from literally city to city and while one type of business may need a license another may not. 

The majority of small home based businesses do not.  Since this varies and often changes, we suggest you search google for your particular areas requirements for your particular type of business.

If you search diligently and you cannot find any requirements there probably are none, but to be cautious you might call your city or county to be sure.
